Announcement for the Funding of Projects on the Subject "Open Innovation – Open Tools for Research and Teaching" –

The Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt (BMFTR) intends to support the thematic area “Open Innovation – Open Tools for Research and Teaching within the research program “Quantensysteme – Spitzentechnologie entwickeln. Zukunft gestalten“. The funding will focus on pre-competitive R&D projects that lead to new or fundamentally improved open tools. The term ‘tools’ refers both to open-source hardware and to the provision of suitable open interfaces or development tools for corresponding components and software for hardware and setup design, as well as their use. Low-cost and freely accessible tools can and should facilitate education in Quantum Technologies and collaboration between different institutions and disciplines, and enable open innovation beyond Quantum Technologies. Easier and unrestricted access makes it possible to gain hands-on experience with Quantum Technologies, thereby significantly enhancing research and technological capabilities. Further information on the funding call can be found here.
